In 2021 we produced an educational resource for use nationwide in UK schools and youth clubs around gambling harms and addiction, for the charity Gambling with Lives. As part of this, we created three animations and a 30 minute drama film, which is intercut with interviews with former gambling addicts.
The film was written by Dan Smith, directed by Fergus Dingle, shot by David Mcdowall, edited by Adam Lewis and produced by Jo Gewirtz (dream team!).
The narrative story of a young man’s life being devastated by addiction was informed by detailed research and real testimonies from gambling addicts. The film has been screened in Westminster for political figures and industry experts, and is now being rolled out in sessions with young people. Early feedback from audiences highlight the powerful messages children and young people are learning from the film… “I now know how to help someone with their gambling addiction and how to point them in the right way”.
