OUP needed a new video-based campaign to refresh their English Language brand, to position them as the authority on English language learning, and to foster their global community of English teachers and learners.
We scripted the film and campaign tagline around that magic moment when, as an English learner, you “find the words”. Alongside an external-facing short film, we also shot and produced a series of interview-led films sharing the learning journeys of students internationally and reflections from teachers of English on learning challenges and milestones.
We travelled to Madrid, Istanbul and Santiago de Chile for the shoot, managing a remote crew who filmed for a day in Ho Chi Minh City. OUP wanted to depict stories of diverse English learners in a variety of environments – as such, our locations delivered a lot of value to the campaign film and interview films. The shoot crew was a team of four, working with real learners, teachers, and local actors, with Jim Petersen DoP achieving some beautiful visuals in a small team.
